PROFESSIONAL WORK 

2010-present

“Shelter ”, “Initiator/ Collaborator”, PA  an innovative collaborative expereince that merges art with life.

2013

“Artist in Residence”, Village of Arts and Humanities, PA coordinated the re-conrtuction of an abandoned house into an artist residence using recylced materials; supervised work-study youth and community volunteers

2007-2010

“Founder”, Semilla Arts Initiative, PA started a grassroots initiative that used art as a catalyst for social change; facilitated artistic collaborations and empowered community members to positively reconstruct their neighborhoods

2005-2006

“Art Instructor”, Winter Arts Festival UFMG, Minas Gerais, Brazil developed an innovative class curriculum that integrated a university-sponsored arts festival with a youth art workshop in an impoverished community

1998-2008

“General Coordinator”, Casa Cultura Santa Tereza, São Paulo, Brazil recycled art supplies from a local school to co-found a cultural center in an abandoned lot; managed international funds to begin a computer center, library, theatre, and youth arts program

1997

“Teaching Assistantship: Introduction to Wood/ Sculptural Forms”, Maryland Institute College of Art, MD assisted teachers in demonstrations, critiques, and technical support

1991-1997

"Artist in Education", Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, PA designed and executed art projects that explored students’ cultural backgrounds and encouraged cultural pride and sensitivity

1995

"Artist in Residence", El Museo del Barrio, NY collaborated with the Education Department and “Reaffirming Spirituality” exhibit; created a community mural

1992

"Art Instructor", Institute for the Arts in Education, PA collaborated with Annenberg Center of the Performing Arts to develop an interactive art experience that helped school teachers enhance visual arts curriculums

1989-1992

"Educational Programs Director", Taller Puertorriqueño, PA developed, coordinated, and implemented cultural enrichment programs for community youth; conducted outreach to the local schools through the “Adopt a School” program
